Plant Analysis Workbench (PAW)

PAW is a Microsoft Windows-based tool that allows a process system engineer or safety analyst to rapidly review plant data, to monitor the plant performance in real-time, and to assess whether the behavior of any measured plant parameter is consistent with historical norms.

Pipework Database Manager (PDM)

PDM is a Windows computer program, written in FoxPro 2.6, that allows the user to manage the Point Lepreau Generating Station (PLGS) database of plant piping systems. It allows for the windows point and click searching, viewing and querying of data. The databases can easily be updated and fields recalculated automatically. This minimizes error and leads to a consistent set of results.

The piping manager is linked with a 3D drawing package (DESIGN CAD 3D), which allows the user to obtain a 3D wire frame representation of the data in a query.

Plant Expert Monitor (PEM)

PEM is a tool that uses an expert system to rapidly assess large amounts of plant data against a set of compliance criteria. If a problem is detected, a flag is raised, identifying the time and duration of the problem, the signal/s involved, and the nature of the rule that has been broken.

• Ensures that any regulatory non-compliance is promptly identified
• Tracks the duration of any such non-compliance
• When used in conjunction with a data visualization tool, such as its companion tool PAW, can be used to identify the root cause of the non-compliance
